Learn to paddle board, learn the basics of SUP yoga, or learn to let go of you mind’s inner dialogue. This weekend, Paddle Nantucket has 4 classes designed to get you out of your head, and on the water.
Friday, June 24th. 7am
7am Beginner’s SUP Yoga
This SUP yoga class will teach students the basics of stand up paddle boarding and introduce them to the basics of Hatha yoga. This practice begins on land with man introduction to our equipment: your board, paddle and the anchor you’ll use while practicing yoga. We will then offer a very short guided paddle in the calm waters of Nantucket’s north shore (or for those students who prefer, boards can be walked out to waist-high water).
After anchoring the boards into the seabed we will explore a gentle yoga practice appropriate for beginner to intermediate students. These open water classes will use breath-work and utilize poses that release tension, quiet the mind, strengthen the body and ease the spirit. Each class will draw to a close with a sweet savasana (final relaxation) in which students will be encouraged to lay down on their backs, float their hands in the water and feel the sea flow beneath them. Saturday, June 25th
6am Fluid Meditation with Evie
This hour-long class with Evie O’Connor is offered at high tide and gives students of all levels an opportunity to unwind and clear their minds at the end of their day. Meditating outside on the boards allows us to experience healing, harmonizing powers of the ocean and to reconnect with nature.
Students will enjoy a serene paddle towards the Monomoy Creeks and anchor down for the practice. Breathwork and gentle stretches will prepare students for their meditation and guided relaxation.
Meditation is offered either seated or reclined and we will close with Savasana, where students can lay down on their boards and let their worries dissolve into the waters below. Students will then paddle back to shore often as the sun melts into the ocean. No prior meditation experience is necessary to enjoy the healing powers of this practice.

9am Vinyasa SUP Yoga with Ieva
These mixed-level floating yoga classes are appropriate for students interested in increasing their balance as well as physical and mental strength. Sink spiritually into the back drop of the open ocean, and allow your yoga practice to be guided by the water flowing beneath you. After a brief review of paddle technique, warm-up with a brisk paddle off the beach, then enjoy the safety and security anchoring down provides. The heart of your practice will include a flowing squence of yoga poses, core cultivation and loger held standing poses, which done on the gentle rocking surface of your board will be like no other yoga class you’ve ever taken.
Just like in our Fluid Basics class, Fluid Flow draws to a close with a sweet savasana (final relaxation) in which students are encouraged to lay down on their backs, float their hands in the water, and feel the water flow beneath them. Students will then enjoy a meditative paddle back to shore.
